All of the information on this page was assembled in collaboration with the Facebook group Dyed Baby Carriers. If you have more questions regarding dyeing your baby carrier, join their group for assistance!
DO NOT strip WOOL or BAMBOO OR SILK OR A SOFT STRUCTURED CARRIER OR A STRETCHY WRAP. The stripping agent will compromise the integrity and safety of your carrier.
Want to strip that ugly color off your carrier?
You’ll want to use Dharma color remover or prochem.
You can use Rit dye remover, but you need 4-6 packets to achieve a similar result to Dharma’s dye remover.
Please read Paula Burch's discharge chemicals web pages, including:

***DO NOT EVER USE BLEACH ON FABRIC INTENDED FOR BABYWEARING. At this time, it is unknown just how much permanent damage is done during the bleaching process. Even when bleach is properly neutralized afterwards, it can not be trusted ti carry an infant or toddler's weight on a consistent basis. ***
Cautions:
Although the reductive discharge chemicals are less toxic, in general, than chlorine bleach, they are particularly dangerous for people who have asthma and other more serious respiratory and neurologic issues. All agents that can strip color produce sulfur dioxide. Everyone should wear gloves and a respirator. Take care to avoid over exposure to vapors. Please obtain and abide by the MSDS for all chemicals you work with. AKA THIS STUFF IS NASTY AND STICKS AND WILL HURT YOUR HEAD. TAKE CAUTION AND DO NO DO IT IF YOU ARE EXPECTING A BABY OR HAVE SMALL CHILDREN WITH YOU!
